1 Corinthians 7
Is it better to be single or married? Both! Enjoy your present status!
Read 1 Corinthians 7. Which part of 1 Corinthians 7 inspired you the most?
-
Be A Self-Aware Single: Paul talked about the benefit of celibacy; yet, he also pointed out the reality of sexual temptations (“burn with passion” v.9). One has to be aware of one’s own gift of celibacy, the benefit of singlehood, the price of a married life, as well as the possible struggles and temptations for singles. Know yourself!
-
Be A Responsible Spouse: Married people need to be faithful to their spouses, to fulfill their marital duty and not to deprive each other (i.e. of physical intimacy), to please each other, and to commit to each other. Do your part!
-
Be A Content Christian: “Each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him...each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to” (vv. 17, 24). God puts each of us in different situation and we should be content with our status and fulfill our various roles. Do not be dissatisfied with our present marital situation. Seek how we could fulfill God’s plan in our lives as we are. Fulfill your role.

Your own insight: (fill in yourself)
Meditation and Application: Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions.
1) If you are single, reflect upon the ups and downs, pros and cons, and struggles and fulfillments of your singlehood. Thank God for putting you in your present situation and ask God to use your singleness to its fullest capacity to fulfill His plan.
2) If you are married, reflect and see if you’ve been fulfilling your responsibilities to your spouse. List down some of the ways that you could improve (i.e. be more attentive, patient, forgiving, loving, understanding, spending more quality time together, etc.). Recommit your marriage to God and pray that you could rekindle your passion towards each other.
