1 John 1
Walk in the light for God is light!
Read 1 John 1. Which part of 1 John 1 inspires you the most?
  1. Genuine Fellowship: The concept of “fellowship” is prominent in 1 John and especially in chapter 1 where the word has appeared four times. The Greek word of “fellowship” is “koinonia”; it literally means “common with,” denoting a close and intimate relationship. We are to have that close relationship with the Father, with the Son, and with one another. Evaluate your relationship with God and with other brothers and sisters. Name some of the hindrances that prevent these relationships to become a true “fellowship.”  What could you do about it?

  2. Walking in the Light: God is light and we should not walk in darkness; we should walk in the light and have fellowship with Him and with one another (vv.5-7). Evaluate your walk in the past week, were you walking in the light or walking in darkness. How so?

  3. God’s Forgiveness: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (v.9). Take a minute or two for quiet meditation, trace back some of the offenses you have made against God. Come before Him in full humility and ask for His forgiveness. Thank Him that He has forgiven you and has purified you from all unrighteousness.

  4. Your own insight: (fill in yourself)

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Focus on evaluating our “fellowship” with God and see in what way(s) that we could improve it.
