1 John 2
Knowing God is more than head knowledge, it demands obedience!
Read 1 John 2. Which part of 1 John 2 inspires you the most?
-
Know God: The word “know” (Greek: ginosko) occurs 25 times in 1 John. It denotes a genuine and intimate relationship. A person having such intimate relationship with God should obey His commands, live (walk) as Jesus lived, and love one another. Evaluate your relationship with God under the light of the above principles, in what ways do you “know” or “not know” Him? Why?
-
Love Not the World: John used the concept of the “world” to represent the world’s moral and spiritual system that draws people away from God. It consists of “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (v.16 NIV 2011). In what way(s) have you been struggling in these areas? What actions could you take to deal with these struggles?
-
Remain in God: In light of the approaching of the end time (“the last hour” v.18) and the coming of the antichrist, we have to let God’s words remain in us, so that we could remain in the Son and in the Father. What could you do to ensure God’s words remain in you and you remain in God?

Meditation and Application:
Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Focus on how you could know and remain in God, and love not the world.
