1 John 3
Love is a verb, show it with actions!
Read 1 John 3. Which part of 1 John 3 inspires you the most?
-
Abide in God: The word “abide” (NIV: translated “live” or “remain”; Greek: “meno”) occurs 24 times in 1 John. Those who are born of God and abide in Him, God’s nature (“seed” v.9) abides in them and the new nature does not sin. It does not mean that a Christian will be perfect and sinless, but that all sin is of the devil (v.8) and it does not come from the believers’ regenerated nature. Evaluate your life and see if how you could better nurture God’s nature in you and abide in Him.
-
Love One Another: Since Jesus laid down His life for us, we should love one another with such sacrificial love (v.16). However, love is more than just words; we should love with actions and in truth (vv.17-18). How could you practically love those around you with actions and in truth? Plan some action items to express your love towards them, starting from those who are closest to you and extending that “circle of love” progressively (i.e. family members, close friends and fellow Christians, co-workers or classmates, etc.).
