1 John 5
Believe in Jesus and know that you have eternal life.
Read 1 John 5. Which part of 1 John 5 inspires you the most?

Assurance of Overcoming: “Everyone born of God” (v.4) and “he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” (v.5) overcomes the world. Believers are world-conquerors by means of their faith in Christ, and such faith is the secret of their continuing victory; therefore, obedience to God's commands would not be burdensome. In what way(s) have you felt defeated in your life? Why? Hold onto God’s promise here and reclaim your victory in Christ.

Assurance of Salvation: John wrote of the testimony of God (i.e. the Holy Spirit, the water [baptism of Jesus Christ by which His public ministry was initiated], and the blood [His death by which His earthly work was terminated]), so that his readers might know that they had eternal life. We do not hope or guess that we may have eternal life, but we could have full assurance that we “have” eternal life (v.13). Is there anything that makes you doubt about your salvation? What is that? Meditate on vv.11-12, “11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” Thank God for His promise and the assurance of salvation.

Assurance of Answered Prayer: If we ask anything according to God’s will, He hears us (v.14). Evaluate your recent prayers and see if they are aligned with God’s will. What adjustments do you need to make in order to assure that you are praying according to God’s will?
