1. Be Alert and Self-Controlled: The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night (v.2), and we are to live as sons of the light and sons of the day (v.5). In what way could you live a life of alertness and self-control (v.6)?

2. Respect Church Leaders: Paul asked that the Thessalonians to esteem, to value, and to respect their leaders (vv.12-13). Think of practical ways that you could show appreciation and respect to your church leaders, starting from your pastors and elders. 

3. Nurture Inner Life: Paul exhorted the Thessalonians to live a life of joy (v.16), prayer (v.17), thanksgiving (v.18), God’s Word (vv.19-21), godly living (vv.22-24), and Christian fellowship (vv.25-28). Prepare yourself for the second coming of the Lord by nurturing your spiritual life.
