1 Timothy 2
The simplest and the most powerful weapon in spiritual warfare is “Prayer.”
Read 1 Timothy 2. Which part of 1 Timothy 2 inspired you the most?
“[1 Tim. 2:15] is one of the most difficult verses of the New Testament to interpret. The ambiguous words kept safe through childbirth have given rise to several diverse interpretations: (a) preserved (physically) through the difficult and dangerous process of childbirth; (b) preserved (from insignificance) by means of her role in the family; (c) saved through the ultimate childbirth of Jesus Christ the Savior (an indirect reference to Gen. 3:15); and (d) kept from the corruption of society by being at home raising children...Hence the second of the preceding options seems most likely. A woman will find her greatest satisfaction and meaning in life, not in seeking the male role, but in fulfilling God's design for her as wife and mother with all ‘faith, love, and holiness with propriety’ (i.e., self-restraint; cf. 1 Tim. 2:9).”*

The Importance of Prayer: Paul admonished Timothy to pray for everyone, and for kings and all those in authority (vv.1-2). Evaluate your prayer life and see in what area you need to improve. Use a prayer journal or use a piece of paper to make a prayer list to jot down things that you would like to pray for each day (e.g. Sunday: church ministries and leaders; Monday: salvation and health of parents; Tuesday: job and coworkers; Wednesday: leaders of our country; Thursday: missions works and missionaries; etc.).
-
The Importance of Spreading the Gospel: God desires all to be saved (v.4); for that, Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for all (v.6), and Paul was appointed to teach and to share the good news (v.7). Do you have the desire to share the gospel? Think of a few non-Christian friends or family members and start praying for their salvation. Try writing down your own testimony and pray for opportunities that you could share your testimony with them.
-
The Importance of Modesty and Self-Control: Paul exhorted men to control their anger and not be argumentative; and women to be modest, to learn in quietness and submission, and to recognize and not to surpass their role (i.e. v. 12, not to have authority over a man). Take some time to reflect upon your own life and see in what area you need to exercise modesty and self-control (e.g. in your speech, anger control, manner, bad habits, etc.).

Meditation and Application:
Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Examine your prayer life and implement necessary steps to improve on it (e.g. make a prayer list, set up regular time for prayer and meditation, find a prayer partner, pray with your spouse, use a prayer journal, etc.).
