2 Corinthians 13
Life is a marathon. Examine yourself constantly, restore yourself if necessary, and prepare to meet the Lord always!

Read 2 Corinthians. Which part of 2 Corinthians 13 inspired you the most?
  1. Prepare Yourself: Paul warned the unrepentant Corinthians of his return and the discipline that would follow. Likewise, Christ will return and judge the world. Have you harbored any unrepented sins in your life? What are they and what are you going to do about them?

  2. Examine Yourself: Paul exhorted the Corinthians to examine and to test themselves. Three times the word “fail(ed)” is used in 2 Corinthians, and all in this passage (vv.5-7). It is the same word translated “disqualified” in 1 Corinthians 9:27 (“No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”). The self-examination regards more than just positional justification (i.e. whether they were Christians or not), but their practical sanctification (i.e. whether they have lived out their faith in obedience). How then can you live a life of sanctification?

  3. Restore Yourself: Paul prayed for the Corinthians’ perfection (v.9), and encouraged them to aim for perfection (v.11). The word “perfection” could be translated as “restoration” (Gal. 6:1), and is often used for “repairing” net (Mt. 4:21, Mk. 1:19). Are there any areas in your life that need to be repaired or restored? How are you going to approach that?

  4. Your own insight: (fill in yourself)

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions.Take time to reflect upon your life and draft practical plans regarding areas on that you need to improve, so that you are prepared to meet the Lord when He returns.
