2 Corinthians 8
We give because He first gave us!
Read 2 Corinthians 8. Which part of 2 Corinthians 8 inspired you the most?
-
The Giving of the Macedonian Churches: They had the right attitudes in giving. They first gave themselves to the Lord, and gave beyond their ability willingly even in their extreme poverty. May we learn from their attitude and focus more on offering our lives as living sacrifices instead of focusing on monetary giving. Next time when the offering plate is passed in front of you, say a short prayer telling God that you’re also offering yourself as a living sacrifice as you put in your offering.
-
The Giving of the Corinthian Church: Paul reminded them that they needed to be prepared. Likewise, we need to plan and to prepare for our giving. Besides tithing to your church, think of a couple other Christian Organizations that you would like to support. Plan how you could support them financially and/or through prayer.
-
The Giving of Jesus Christ: Jesus was rich and became poor for our sakes, so that we through His poverty may become rich (v.9). Thank God for the sacrifice of our Lord, and see in what way(s) that we could give sacrificially (e.g. our time, our talents, and our treasures) in response to His grace.
