2 Peter 1
Don’t stop at “knowing” the truth, practice and grow in it!
Read 2 Peter 1. Which part of 2 Peter 1 inspires you the most?
-
Keep Growing: We are to make every effort to pursue the virtues of faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love; so that we could be effective and productive in our understanding of the Lord Jesus, as well as in our application of biblical principles to daily life. Which of the above virtues are your forte, and which are the ones that you need to work on? How?
-
Keep Remembering: Peter reminded his readers to not only learn the truth and know it, but to remember to practice what they knew. He also recalled his own encounter with God during the transfiguration of Jesus. Recall a time when you encountered God; how does that experience impact your life?
-
Keep Learning: Peter exhorted his readers to pay attention to the word of the prophets, and to understand that the prophecies were from God, spoken through men who were carried along by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the Word of God and we need to pay attention to it and let the Word transform us. Select some Bible verses that have encouraged you and try memorizing them in the coming weeks.
