2 Timothy 4
The pleasure of life’s journey depends not on how smooth the paths are, but on who walks alongside you.
Which part of 2 Timothy 4 inspires you the most?
-
Preach in Any Season: Paul charge Timothy to “preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction” (v.2). Let us not lose heart in doing good, and make use of every opportunity to share God’s words. At your present stage of life, are you in season or out of season? Draft a plan and see how you could share God’s word more effectively in your present situation.
-
Be Faithful until the End: Paul realized that he was coming to the end of his life, and yet, had confidence that there would be the crown of righteousness in store for him as he had fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (vv.6-8). Evaluate your spiritual journey and see how your fight, your race, and your faith are doing. What do you need to do to ensure a good finish?
-
Trust in the Lord Always: Paul was in a stage of loneliness and felt deserted by his friends and comrades (vv. 10, 16). However, he still felt God’s presence and empowerment, and remained hopeful that the Lord would rescue him from every evil attack and would bring him safely to His heavenly kingdom (vv.17-18). Have you ever had that feeling of loneliness or of being left out? How did you handle these feelings in the past? What could you learn from Paul’s personal struggles?
