Acts 11
"Christian" is an honorable title, live up to it to exemplify Christ.
Read Acts 11. Which part of Acts 11 inspires you the most?
-
The Explanation of Peter — Confrontation in Love: Though Peter’s association with the gentiles was criticized, the early church did it in a loving manner. After Peter explained what God had done among the gentiles, the accuser did not insist on their way and their tradition but praised God instead. Learn to disagree agreeably, love does cover over a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
-
The Church in Antioch — Demonstration of Love: The disciples were first called Christian (which means “belonging to the party of Christ”) at Antioch (11:26). It seems evident that Christians at Antioch lived up to this title as they were instructed to “remain true to the Lord with all their hearts” (11:23); and they even provided help for the church in Judea in preparation for an imminent famine (11:28-30). Cherish the honor of being called a Christian and try living up to that title.
