Acts 2
Act according to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and let your life demonstrate His power.
Read Acts 2. Which part of Acts 2 inspires you the most?
  1. The Coming of the Holy Spirit (vv.1-13): (a) The Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to do way beyond their abilities (vv.4-11) ; (b) the result of a Spirit-filled life (i.e. life controlled by the Holy Spirit) brought amazement and impacts to others (v.12). Commit to live a Spirit-filled life and be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit in the coming weeks.

  2. The Fulfillment of the Old Testament Prophecies (vv.14-36): (a) The prophecy in Joel 2:28-32 was partly fulfilled in the coming of the Holy Spirit, and the prophecy in Ps. 16:8-11 was fulfilled in the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. (b) Joel’s proclamation that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (v.21, Joel 2:32a) provides an eternal hope to a hopeless world. The Old and the New Testaments are not disconnected. Trust in His promise, God’s words will never fail.

  3. The Repentance of the People (vv.37-41): The 3,000 converts took action according to their God-given convictions. Examine your life and see what conviction(s) you have recently, and see if you have acted according to your God-given conviction. Don’t just feel sorry, but follow through with actions to change from your old ways.

  4. The Fellowship of believers (vv.41-47): The newly formed church is characterized by — (a) the thirst that they had for God’s words, (b) the love that they had for one another, and (c) the testimonies and impacts that they showed to the world. Examine your life and see on which of the above area(s) that you need to improve, and how?

  5. Your own insight: (fill in yourself)

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Focus on how you could act according to your God-given conviction and live an authentic Christian life.
