Acts 5
God is awesome! Revere Him! Obey Him! Hold onto Him!
Read Acts 5. Which part of Acts 5 inspires you the most?

NOTE: Regarding Ananias and Sapphira, question was often raised regarding God’s mercy and whether the punishment was too heavy for the offense. Warren Wiersbe rightly points out that " the Lord judges sin severely at the beginning of a new period in salvation history...as warnings to the  people."* Though physically they were punished, nothing was mentioned regarding their eternal status. Although Capital punishment was executed, they would still be saved if they truly believed in the Lord.

  1. Judgement on Ananias and Sapphira: God does not take sin lightly. As Galatians 6:7 reminds us, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Revere Him.

  2. The Power and Boldness of the Apostles: The Apostles preached boldly with supernatural power. Though being threaten, they avowed, “We must obey God rather than man.” Don’t be threatened or moved by outside pressure but follow His way. Obey Him.

  3. The Advice of Gamaliel: Purpose and activity without God will fail, but those from God will be unstoppable. Examine your life periodically, see if your goals and the ways of your living align with God’s will. Hold onto Him.

  4. Your own insight: (fill in yourself)

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions.  Focus on examining and readjusting your life, so that you could live a life of obedience that reveres the Lord.
