Acts 7
Desire His words, share your faith, and follow Jesus
Read Acts 7. Which part of Acts 7 inspires you the most?
-
The Knowledge of Stephen: The Jews accused Stephen for speaking against the temple and the law (Acts 6:13-14); and Stephen confronted them with biblical events from Abraham to the prophets on the same issues — that the Israelites had been rejecting the Law and God’s presence was more than just inside the temple. Do we know the scriptures well enough to defend our faith? How much time are we willing to spend on it? Try to set aside a regular time in your daily schedule to do your devotion. Be a studious student of His Word.
-
The Boldness of Stephen: Though in front of threats and persecution, Stephen did not shy away from the gospel. “In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood” (Heb. 12:4); yet, we are often afraid to stand up for the truth and share the gospel. What are some of the fears that you have in sharing the gospel? Pray over each one of them and ask God to help you overcome your fears. Be a bold witness of your faith.
-
The Last Words of Stephen: The last words of Stephen resembled the last words of Christ on the cross. He pleaded for the Jews who stoned him and committed his spirit to Jesus. Stephen, a true follower of Christ, followed Jesus till his last breath. In what ways that you could be a true follower of Jesus? Be an imitator of the Lord.
