Acts 8
Cherish the trials and adversities that God allows, they could be blessings in disguise.

Read Acts 8. Which part of Acts 8 inspires you the most?
  1. Adversity Turns into Opportunity: The church in Jerusalem was persecuted, and yet it led to the dispersion of the believers and the spreading of the gospel throughout Judea and Samaria. Trials in life could be blessings in disguise. Recall some of these blessings in disguise in your life and thank God for His unfathomable plans. Let us trust in God’s sovereign plan in our lives.

  2. The Evil Ambition of Simon the Sorcerer: Simon was always impressed with power; he was astonished by Philip’s signs and miracles (8:13), and even proposed to buy the “ability” of bestowing the Holy Spirit. Examine your motives in seeking God, and confess before Him for any impure motives. Let us desire God and His presence with a pure heart.

  3. The Earnestness of the Ethiopian Eunuch: The Earnestness of the Ethiopian Eunuch: Traveled over 200 miles in order to worship in Jerusalem, the Ethiopian Eunuch had the desire to seek after God. His exclamation of “How can I [understand the scriptures] unless someone explains it to me?” reveals his deep desire to learn, as well as the need of teachers of the Bible. As Paul instructed Timothy, “And the things you have heard me say...entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Tim. 2:2). Try looking for someone who could help you grow, and someone whom you could disciple. Let’s us desire to grow and in turn we could help those who seek after God.

  4. Your own insight: (fill in yourself)

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Meditate on what God would like you to learn through the various trials in life.
