Hebrews 10
Remember our first love towards God, persevere and do not shrink back!!
Read Hebrews 10. Which part of Hebrews 10 inspired you the most?
NOTE: V. 26 — “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left...” It does not mean that Christians will lose their salvation, but that “If the efficacious sacrifice of Christ should be renounced, there remained no other available sacrifice which could shield an apostate from God's judgment.”*
-
His Sacrifice: The sacrifice of Jesus Christ is effective, not only that He forgives us of our sins but to make us holy (v.10) and perfect forever (v.14). What does that mean to you in light of the doctrines of “assurance of salvation” and “eternal security”?
-
Our Response: We are called to draw near to God (v.22), to spur one another on toward love and good deeds (v.24), and to encourage one another (v.25). Evaluate your spiritual life and see in which of the above area(s) you may need to improve, and how?
-
Call to Remember: Hebrew’s author asked his readers to “Remember those earlier days after [they] had received the light” (vv.32-34). Why is it important to “remember those earlier days”? Try to compare your spiritual life now with your earlier days, in what way(s) have you grown, and in what way(s) have you shrunk back (cf. vv.38-39)? What can you do about it?
- Your own insight: (fill in yourself)
Meditation and Application:
Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Thank God that He has made you “holy” and “perfect forever,” also pray for empowerment that you could persevere in your walk with Him.
