Hebrews 13
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Read Hebrews 13. Which part of Hebrews 13 inspired you the most?
-
Our Love: The author exhorted his recipients to love one another (v.1), to be hospitable (v.2), to care for the oppressed (v.3), to respect marriage (v.4), and to be content (not to love money, v.5) and to rely on God’s help (vv.5-6). What among these areas is/are your strength area(s), and what is/are your growth area(s)? Why? Draft some concrete plans to improve in your growth area(s).
-
Our Devotion: We are to obey and to submit to our leaders (v.17); to remember their works and to imitate their faith (v.7); and to pray for them (vv.18-19). We also need to follow the footsteps of Jesus and to suffer for Him; and to offer up sacrifices of praise, good works, and generosity to Him. Pick one of the actions above and practice it in the coming weeks (i.e. pray for your leaders, practice sacrificial giving, incorporate praising as one of your daily spiritual practice, etc.).
-
Our Trust: The author had cited God’s promise of never leaving us nor forsaking us (v.5), and to ensure us that Jesus will never change (v.8). Meditate on the assertion, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (v.6); and commit to the Lord all your cares and trust in His guidance and deliverance.
