1. The Old Order: The old way of worship was built upon an earthly sanctuary (v.1), which was a type (i.e. pattern/likeness) of something greater (vv.2-5; cf. 9:23), inaccessible to the people (vv.6-7), temporary (v.8), and its ministry was external and not internal (vv.9-10). They were ordained of God until the time of the new order (v.10). Though they were inferior to the new order, people worshiped with awe and reverence. The new order has already come through Jesus Christ; however, people nowadays take worship too lightly (e.g. being late, talking in the worship, not focused, etc.). Examine your attitude of worship and list down areas on which you could improve (e.g. be on time and even arrive early for a preparation of heart, sleep early the night before, turn off and not just silent your cell phone, etc.) .

2. The Better Worship: The new order of worship is heavenly (v.11), effective to deal with sin (vv.12-15), with Christ’s sacrifice (v.12) that could cleanse the conscience (vv.13-14), with eternal blessings (v.15), based on a costly sacrifice (vv.16-23), and is final and complete (vv.25-28). Meditate on the superiority of Christ and the superior terms that are used on Him: high priest of the good things, greater and more perfect tabernacle, once for all by His own blood, eternal redemption, blood of Christ, eternal Spirit unblemished, cleanse our consciences, new covenant, eternal inheritance, heavenly things, better sacrifices, entered heaven, etc. Praise God for His provision of the New Covenant through a more superior sacrifice, Jesus Christ, and thank Him for His sacrificial love for us.
