Revelation 18
Come out from the temporal; enter the eternal!
Read Revelation 18. Which part of Revelation 18 inspired you the most?
-
Babylon Described: Find out how Babylon was described in Revelation 18 (i.e. her evil, her luxury, her wealth, etc.). God’s people are called to “come out of her” and not to “share in her sins” (v.4). Likewise, in what way that you need to “come out” from the world and its value system. List some of the things of the world that could be a hindrance to your Christian walk (e.g. entertainment, wealth, value system, power, temptations, etc.). Cast all these before the Lord and ask for His empowerment that you could “come out” from them.
-
Babylon Destroyed: Note the totality (the use of “no more” vv. 21-23) and the suddenness (“in one day” v.8, “in one hour” vv. 10, 17, 19) of Babylon’s destruction. All luxuries in this world will pass away, thus we should invest our lives in eternity. Think of things that have eternal value and how you could invest your life in them.
-
Injustice Avenged: The prayer of the martyrs in Rev. 6:9-10 are finally answered (18:20). All injustice in this world will pass away; though it may not be according to our timing, we should trust in God's sovereignty and perfect plan. What are some of the injustice or hardships that you are going through? Commit them to the Lord and trust in His perfect plan, for the Lord will avenge for us (Rom. 12:19; Heb. 10:30).
