Revelation 20
Do not fear death, fear God!

Read Revelation 20. Which part of Revelation 20 inspired you the most?

NOTE: The Great White Throne Judgement is different from the Judgement Seat of Christ (Romans 14:10-12, 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, 2 Corinthians 5:9-10). The Judgement Seat of Christ is to reward the faithful service of God’s children, while the Great White Throne Judgement is to settle accounts of those who rebel against God’s righteousness.

  1. The Millennium: Satan is to be bound for 1,000 years in the Abyss while Tribulation martyrs will be raised and reign with Christ during the Millennium. Psalm 30:5 says, “weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” We may have to endure hardship for a moment, but God will reward His saints in due time. Give all your struggles to God, trust in His sovereign plan, and thank Him for His goodness.

  2. The Final Battle: After the Millennium, Satan will be released and deceive the nations to battle against God’s people. It is inconceivable how Satan and his followers do not learn their lesson and would rebel against God again and again. May this be a reminder and a warning for us to value the “2nd chances” that God has given us, and learn and repent from our mistakes. Reflect upon your spiritual walk; recall and thank God for some of these “2nd chances” that He has given you.

  3. The Great White Throne Judgement: The first death is temporary; whether it is the sea, or death, or Hades, they have to give up the dead (v.13). However, the second death is permanent, and those whose names are not in the Book of Life, will be thrown into the lake of fire. Instead of fearing death, we should fear God. As Matthew 10:28 teaches: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Thank God for His redemption and the eternal life that He has given us through the sacrifice of His Son, and commit to live a life that is worthy of His calling (Eph. 4:1).

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above questions along with the necessary actions. Savor God’s grace and mercies upon you, and determine to live a God-fearing life.
