Romans 9
Stop asking, “Why did God make me this way?“... instead, ask, “How can I live out the person whom God created me to be?”
Read Romans 9. Which part of Romans 9 inspires you the most?
  1. God's Mercy: Note the contrast between Isaac and Ishmael [implied] (9:7-9), Jacob and Esau (vv. 10-13), and the comment on Pharaoh (vv. 14-18). God’s choice is not due to human descent nor to human merit; but solely based on His mercy and compassion. Recall God’s mercy and compassion in your life, and thank God for His unfailing love and election on you.

  2. God’s Sovereignty: God is like a potter and we have to trust that He has the best plan for us. Though God’s wrath was mentioned, the focus of the passage is on mercy (vv.15-18, 23, 29), great patience (v.22), and love (vv.25-26). So far, could you see God’s plan in your life? What kind of pottery is God making you to be (i.e. for what purpose)?

  3. Your own insight: (fill in yourself)

Meditation and Application:

Meditate on the above pointers and questions; continue to seek out God’s purpose in your life and submit to His molding and shaping.
